Russian warships allowed to moor off the coast of the Philippines

President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte allowed Russian ships to enter the territorial waters of the country freely. On Thursday, March 23, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Bloomberg.

He noted that from now on the ships of the Russian Navy will be able to moor off the coast of the Philippines, having previously notified the authorities of this country. Dutherte added that similar conditions will apply to the Chinese fleet.

In early January, the Philippine leader inspected the large anti-submarine ship of the Russian Navy Admiral Tributs, which entered the port of Manila. “Admiral Tributs” and the tanker of the Navy “Boris Butoma” arrived in the capital’s port to replenish food supplies, rest the team, as well as visit the representatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on a friendly visit.

Duterte during the inspection expressed the hope that Russia will become an ally and defender for his country. He added that ships from Russia can moor at the ports of the Philippines “at any time.”
