About 20,000 Indians were in Ukraine and the majority of them were students who were unable to buy tickets almost one lakh rupee to India.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has eliminated restrictions on the number of flights and seats between India and Ukraine to facilitate the evacuation of students and professionals stranded in Ukraine which was hit by a crisis. A civil service official said the airline Indians had been asked to increase the number of flights because there was a surge in demand with Russia advancing to Ukraine. India has asked its citizens in Ukraine to leave the country but there are no flights available before February 20.
India and Ukraine have travel bubble agreements where both countries can operate a number of certain flights per week. The bubble agreement is required by a pandemic when international travel is suspended. But now thousands of Indians are stranded in Ukraine, the ministry has decided to get rid of the hat that was previously enforced. This means the airline can operate a number of flights. Charter flights can also be operated between India and Ukraine.
Indian students were left at the time of the embassy after the embassy pressed the emergency button and asked said that remembering increased military tensions between Ukraine and Russia, Indian citizens who lived in Ukraine were not important for a while.
Students complain that the tariff between Ukraine and India almost doubled and ₹ 30,000 tickets are now billed on ₹ 60,000, which is not able to do by many students.
Embassies on Wednesday said students could not panic and tried to order the earliest tickets available to India, while steps were taken to organize more flights to evacuate students from Ukraine. Ukrainia International Airlines, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways operates from flights and other flights including Air India is being planned.
