WASHINGTON: The Ukrainian military has received additional aircraft and spare parts for improvement to get a broken aircraft flying again, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

Ukraine opposed the expectations of allies and military experts by not only maintaining the air force operations almost two months after the start of the Russian invasion but actually repaired the plane and, apparently, adding to the inventory.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby does not offer details where countries provide aircraft, but recognize new transfers and say Ukraine has more combat planes that can be operated than the past.

“They have received additional planes and aircraft to help them get more planes in the air,” Kirby told news, without describing.

Kirby said Washington had not provided any plane to Kyiv.

“We certainly have helped with additional trans-trans-shipping spare parts that have helped with their aircraft needs, but we have not transported all aircraft,” he said.

Still, it might change immediately. The United States has announced plans to transfer Helicopters made by Russia to Ukraine who have been intended for Afghanistan.

More than 50 days in the war, the sky above Ukraine was still in part because of the aircraft fleet and Ukrainian air defense, including surface-to-air missiles were fired with portable provided by the United States and its allies.

It allows Ukraine to undergo a far more effective land campaign than if Russia has air dominance and can maintain troops that attack from the sky.
