News Flash !! If you have liked The Stranger and Safe, then you are in for a treat as the team has reunited for their fourth Harlan Coban adaptation on Netflix by the name Stay Close whichis the New York Time’s number 1 best-selling novel.
The executive producers are the long-time collaborators Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee alongside the creator Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst who is also the lead writer.
We are also no strangers to the Lead Director of Stay Close- Daniel O’Hara, who has previously worked on many producions including- Doctor who, Victoria Brassic, and Coben’s The Stranger and Safe. This time, he would also be serving as an executive Producer for this limited series.
The series will be produced by RED company Production who have been producers for Harlen Coben in his earlier projects too. Stay CLose is another Harlen Coben project with Netflix under his five year deal with the streamer to develop 14 of his titles into Films and TV series.
What is the Plot of the series?
As we know the series is based on Harlen Coben’s novels with the same name Stay Close, which was published in 2012.
The story follows three people living comfortable lives, but each of them hiding a dark past and secrets that none of them would ever suspect. Meghan is a working mother of three, Ray the once aspiring Documentary photographer, now stuck in a dead-end job pondering over celebrity rich kinds, and Broome a detective who is obsessed with a missing person’s cold case. Life is good untill Lorraine, an old friend from Meghan’s past, delivers some shocking news that will affect the lives of all three characters. As we see the story unfold the past comes back to the lives of the three characters and everyone around them. It will be interesting to see their next move.
Like their previous adaptations, Netflix’x Stay Close will also relocate the story from the United Stateds to the UK shores.
Who is the cast and crew of the series?
The three main leads of the series are Crush Jumbo – known for The Good Wife, The Good Fight and Deadwater Fell, James Nesbitt known for Bloody Sunday and The Missing, and Richard Armitage known for The Sranger, The Hobbit, and Hannibal.
They will be playing the main leads of Megan, Broome and Ray respectively.
The cast was first announced on October 28 2020.
The cast will be joined by various talented actors like Eddie Izzard – Hannibal, Sarah Parish – Bancroft, Daniel Francis – Small Axe, Bethany Antonio – Get Evene, Rachel Andrews – Butcher Boy, Poppy Gilbert – The Pale Horse, and Hyoie O’Grady – Mayday.
What’s the serie’s production status?
According to Production Weekly, Stay Close entered production on February 15, 2021, in Manchester, UK. The filming lasted for approximately six months and took place in Manchester as well as the Northwest region of the UK. The production company of the series, The RED Production posted a clapboard to confirm that filming had officially begun on February 18th.
We know that the production of Stay Close wrapped up on July 30th, 2021.
When will the series release on Netflix?
Netflix had announced in October 2021 that the series is due to arrive globally on New year’s Eve that is December 31st, 2021 along with some of its first look photos and a poster for the series.
