WASHINGTON: Two campus police officers were shot and killed at a college in the US State of Virginia, while a student was killed and the others were injured in a shooting at the Minnesota school on the same day.
Two agents, a campus law enforcement officer and a campus safety officer, were shot before the suspect escaped from the scene in College in Virginia, said the state police said Virginia in a statement on Twitter.

Some law enforcement agencies arrived at the Bridgewater College campus around 1:20 a.m. (1820 GMT) in response to the active shooter report, according to the same statement, whose schools were also posted on their website.

The suspect, a 27-year-old man named Alexander Wyatt Campbell, was later arrested, said the state police said Virginia, added that he had “a life-threatening gunshot wound.”

It is not clear whether he was shot by the police or if the wound was done alone. He was indicted by murder, police said.

The city of Bridgewater, about two and a half hours south of the US Washington capital and where Bridgewater College is, send a warning around 1:30 a.m. Warning the situation of the active shooter, local media reported.

The school issued a clear notice on its website around 4:30 a.m.

A student, 21 years old, Kasey Truslow, told Washington Post he heard a gunshot outside the class building window.

“After the second shot, we went up to the floor. We stayed on the floor for an hour,” he said.

Virginia Governor Glen may be tweeted, “I have been briefed about the situation at Bridgewater College. The shooter was in detention and the state and the local police were at the scene.”

‘Memeless’

Officers were identified by the school as John Painter and J.j. Jefferson.

The couple was “shot and killed on campus while protecting us,” a statement from the President of the David Bushman college on his website.

“These officers are close friends, who are known to be many of us as ‘Dynamic Duo.’ John is the best man at his wedding this year. They are loved by students, faculties and staff. I hurt their families and loved ones, as I know we all, “the statement continued.

The Mayor of Bridgewater Ted Flory posted a statement on the small city website.

“Bridgewater was shocked by non-reasonable violence at Bridgewater College,” said Flory. “We are broken hearted by an unnecessary injury and loss of life.”

President Joe Biden, who has asked Congress to enforce a harder gun control law, tweeted about the shooting, saying him and his wife “pray for missing families.”

“The violent gun against law enforcement officers is sickening, and it must end,” he said.

Shooting in Minnesota took place in the city of Richfield outside Minneapolis around midday, officials said, leaving a dead student and another injured.

The attackers escaped the students on the sidewalk outside the center of the southern education before accelerating in the car, Police Chief Richfield Jay Henthorne told the Startribune newspaper.

Two suspects were later arrested, the newspaper said, noting that friends from the victim had identified students who were killed as Jamari Rice, said some local journalists were the son of the black skin of rice.

Cortez Rice was arrested last year and assigned to try to intimidate the judge who handled the trial of EX-police officers Kim Potter Officer who killed a black man in April when he said he mixed his hand with a gun.
